Laura Caroleo is a postdoctoral researcher and adjunct professor with expertise in digital sociology, as well as the sociology of culture and communication. She teaches Methods of Research in Media and Communications and History of Contemporary Communication at institutions such as the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart and the University of Milan – La Statale. She has also served as a guest lecturer on multiple occasions at the University of Finance and Administration in Prague. In addition, she has been an affiliated researcher at the University of Amsterdam’s Department of Media Studies and a visiting fellow at both Università della Svizzera Italiana (USI) and the University of Finance and Administration in Prague.
Her research focuses on the social impact of technology, with particular emphasis on the sociology of law, public policy, human-computer interaction, digital sociology, media studies, and political communication. Her research also delves into the dynamics of oral communication, focusing on the use of voice in human-computer interaction and exploring its potential as a pivotal element in the development of new methodologies for digital analysis. She aims to foster a broader debate on the importance of vocal methodologies in understanding and shaping the future of communication in the digital age.
Alongside her academic roles, she brings extensive experience as a consultant in political and institutional communication, managing relationships with various stakeholders, including institutions, administrative offices, territorial authorities, and trade associations. Her consultancy work includes providing legal support for committees, conducting political research, regulatory analysis, and offering strategic advice on both local and national political matters. Additionally, she has significant expertise in public relations and strategic communication, having worked with companies, private clients, and startups, ensuring cohesive and effective communication strategies across diverse platforms.
She has completed advanced courses and training at prestigious institutions, including the University of Oxford (Media, Policy, and Law School, 2023), the London School of Economics (Ethics of AI, 2021), and the University of Amsterdam (Digital Methods Summer and Winter Schools, 2022-2023). Laura is a published author in peer-reviewed journals and an active contributor to international conferences such as ECREA, WMEMC, and many others, advancing the fields of communication, law, and social change.
